Opalescence™ Accessibility Statement

Accessibility Statement for Opalescence Teeth Whitening

This is an accessibility statement from Ultradent Products, Inc.

Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. Opalescence Teeth Whitening is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.

Technical specifications

Accessibility of Opalescence Teeth Whitening relies on the following technologies to work with the particular combination of web browser and any assistive technologies or plugins installed on your computer:

  • HTML
  • WAI-ARIA
  • CSS
  • JavaScript

These technologies are relied upon for conformance with the accessibility standards used.

Limitations and alternatives

Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of Opalescence, there may be some limitations. Below is a description of known limitations. We are actively working to address these. Please contact us if you observe an issue not listed below.

Known limitations for Opalescence:

  1. Missing image alt text: Some images do not have appropriate alternative text or alt="" for decorative images. This may result in screen readers announcing images with no meaningful description or reading unnecessary content.

  2. Cart behavior after “Add to Cart” selection: When a user selects the "Add to Cart" button, the cart opens automatically. This may be unexpected for screen reader users, as there is no announcement or change of focus to indicate the cart has opened.

  3. Redundant announcements on product detail pages: On product pages, screen readers like VoiceOver may announce confusing or repetitive information when navigating options such as size, flavor, pricing, quantity, and the Add to Cart button.

  4. Duplicate landmark regions: Some pages contain repeated landmark regions (such as multiple navigation sections) without unique labels.

  5. No alerts for dynamic FAQ content: On the FAQ page, when a user selects a filter on the left, updated content appears on the right, but screen reader users are not alerted to the change.

  6. Missing video transcripts: Some video content does not currently include a written transcript.

  7. Incorrect heading structure: On some blog posts, heading levels are not nested semantically (e.g., skipping from an <h2> to an <h4>).

Locate a Dentist

We use an interactive map tool on our “Locate a Dentist” page to help you find nearby dentists that provide Opalescence whitening. Because this map uses code out of our control, it may not meet all accessibility standards. If you have difficulty using the map or accessing location information, please contact us and we will provide the same information in an accessible format (such as a simple address list, directory, or by phone).

While we aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA standards across our site, some third-party widgets or components may not fully conform due to limitations outside of our control.

Feedback

Your experience matters to us, and we’re here to listen, learn, and adapt. Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of the Opalescence website, there may be some limitations due to frequent content updates.

If you encounter any barriers on our site, please contact us so we can address them.
